Here are some different services that could help:

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

This allows you to think about your situation, get support and find acceptable solutions to this complex situation of intimate partner violence.

Everyone has the option of an individual therapy. This does not imply any obligation on your partner.

COUPLES THERAPY

This offers couples a counselling service to deal with the crisis represented by intimate partner violence.

The objectives may vary, from reconstructing a harmonious relationship to a separation.

This is possible:

  • When there is no risk of sexual of physical violence reoccurring.
  • When both members of the couple acknowledge the presence of intimate partner violence and their responsibility in the process.
  • When both member of the couple can speak freely and express their need without fear of reprisals.

FAMILY MEDIATION

This generally takes place when couples are separating or already separated, and can provide a good framework for negotiation for families living in a situation of intimate partner violence.

The aim is to find agreement between the couple of organization and practical aspects.

Favourable conditions for selecting mediation would be:

  • When there is no risk of sexual of physical violence reoccurring.
  • When both member of the couple can speak freely and express their need without fear of reprisals.

HELP FOR THE ABUSERS

There are counselling centres for abusers. With the support of professionals, abusers are led to take responsibility for their acts, but also how to remove violence from their relationships.
